SLIPWAY is a seasonal open-air live music and events venue which is activated annually from December to February in the Mothership courtyard. SLIPWAY is operated with DIY ethos and an emphasis on affordability, creating space for queer community and building up our local talent.
SLIPWAY launched in summer 24/25 with 14 events, including regular movie nights with Pink Flamingo Cinema and the launch events for Warp & Weft and EMOM - now recurring classics. SLIPWAY 25/26 has expanded to over 30 events Wednesdays - Sundays.
Across its season, SLIPWAY is the home of Pink Flamingo Cinema every Wednesday night, a niche, avant-garde, queer and trash underground cinema highly trusted amongst movie enthusiasts.
Each month we host two regular events:
Electronic Music Open Mic, a free community-run event for emerging producers, reignited by Mothership Studio tenant Stewart Lawler of KLAUS. SLIPWAY provides a meeting and performance space for electronic musicians of all styles and persuasions. The rest of our programming is comprised of one-off events by some of the most trusted promoters in Sydney's underground music and doof scene: Vibe Positive, Moral Laxa, CG Discs, Unzip, and more.
Club Less is a collaborative event platform derived from key members from Sydney-based music & sound collectives dstreet, Lovejoy, Minutiae, oomycota & Prion Audio. Club Less presents an exploration of stripped back sounds, minimal in their essence but wide in mood, genre, tempo. Challenging each artist to interpret the concept of “less” in unique ways, playing with tension & restraint - the space between.
As a queer-run venue, SLIPWAY reserves its Thursday night programming to showcasing and hosting the queer community.
Slipway is the home of the in-house production T4T Wrestling, whose second edition sold out in less than 2 minutes. We gratefully partner with the legends at Eat for Good and Pink Flamingo cinema to bring our queer programming to life!
