Jewellery and Textiles Designer
Wintersmith Art & Design
Susannah Boothroyd is an Australian designer-maker, best known for her distinctively detailed jewellery and textile work. Her design process is founded in the contemporary interpretation of historical processes, drawing imagery from nature, history, engineering, and technology. Her cross-disciplinary process allows for the creation of objects that combine techniques associated with cloth, metal, paper, and wood. Dramatic contrasts of colour, form and texture are essential to her aesthetic.
Susannah graduated with Distinction from the Bachelor of Design at UNSW’s College of Fine Arts in 2004. She later undertook the Advanced Diploma in Jewellery and Object Design at TAFE NSW’s Design Centre, Enmore. In 2012, she again graduated with Distinction and was awarded the 2012 JOD Award and Scholarship, and enrolled in the Cert III Jewellery Manufacture and Trade course.
Throughout her studies, Susannah has worked within both the textile and jewellery industries in such roles as design, teaching, manufacture, and sales. Susannah has regularly exhibited her work since 1998 in galleries and arts festivals around Australia, and her jewellery and objects have been purchased by collectors in the USA, UK, Norway, Croatia, and Singapore.
